House of Junior Leaders

House of Junior Leaders Advocates Integration of Soft Skills in Education The House of Junior Leaders (HOJL) has launched a movement to address a crucial gap in our education system. While many contemporary countries have already integrated soft skills into their curricula, Pakistan’s educational framework remains largely focused on hard skills alone.

Recognizing the importance of equipping students with essential interpersonal and leadership competencies, HOJL has been actively organizing workshops and short courses covering areas such as leadership, presentation, and communication skills. However, HOJL firmly believes that this mission cannot be accomplished by a single organization alone it requires collaboration among the corporate sector, government bodies, and academic institutions.

Collaboration with IBA Sukkur University In a significant step forward, IBA Sukkur University has partnered with the House of Junior Leaders, opening its classrooms to support this initiative. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between HOJL and IBA Sukkur University to deliver a 10-hour short course for BBA students. This program will cover three key soft skills:

  1. Leadership Skills
  2. Presentation Skills
  3. Communication Skills

Why Soft Skills Matter:
The answer is simple yet powerful: According to research conducted by Harvard University, soft skills contribute 85% to an individual’s success, while hard skills account for only 15%. Unfortunately, our education system focuses almost exclusively on hard skills, leaving graduates ill-prepared for workplace demands.

When students transition from academia to the corporate world, employers expect them to possess strong leadership abilities, effective communication skills, persuasive presentation techniques, excellent problem-solving capabilities, and other essential competencies. However, because these are not taught during their formal education, graduates often have to acquire them on the job paying the cost in terms of delayed promotions and missed opportunities.

HOJL’s Vision:
The House of Junior Leaders aims to change this narrative by integrating soft skills training into the education system. The goal is to ensure that graduates enter the corporate sector fully equipped with the confidence, mindset, and skill sets needed to thrive from day one.

Next Steps:
To achieve this vision, HOJL plans to sign more MoUs with various colleges and universities across the country. In addition, the organization will continue to organize seminars, workshops, and awareness campaigns to highlight the importance of soft skills for professional success.

In short:
Soft skills are not a luxury they are a necessity. And by embedding them into our education system, we can empower the next generation to reach their fullest potential.
